The Building People, LLC, has a position open for a full-time Advanced Metering Integration Specialist to support the deployment, integration, validation, and lifecycle management of advanced metering infrastructure and energy monitoring systems for smart building portfolios. The position will work independently to meet project requirements with limited supervision and will be responsible for integrating electric, gas, water, thermal, and other utility metering data into enterprise monitoring platforms, with a specific focus on Schneider Electric Power Monitoring Expert (PME).
Responsibilities/Duties

Design, configure, and support advanced metering integrations based on project plans, specifications, utility requirements, and customer operational needs

Integrate metering devices, gateways, data loggers, and building systems into Schneider Electric Power Monitoring Expert (PME) and related enterprise energy platforms

Configure meter hierarchies, device drivers, dashboards, alarms, reports, data logs, and user access within PME
-
Perform communications troubleshooting for metering networks using protocols such as Modbus, BACnet, Ethernet/IP, pulse outputs, and other common utility metering interfaces

Validate meter data accuracy, trend collection, timestamps, scaling, units, and point-to-point mapping from field devices through the monitoring platform

Collaborate with engineering, controls, IT, cybersecurity, commissioning, and facility operations teams on metering architecture, network requirements, data standards, and integration strategy

Develop and maintain metering documentation, device inventories, network diagrams, integration notes, test scripts, and as-built records

Support commissioning, functional testing, acceptance testing, and troubleshooting of metering systems and PME integrations

Provide customer training on meter data interpretation, PME dashboards, reporting tools, alarms, and ongoing operational use

Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, utilities, and manufacturers as needed to resolve integration, communications, or data quality issues

Provide project management assistance as required, including customer coordination, schedule support, issue tracking, and progress reporting

Mentor lower-level technicians and analysts on metering systems, communications protocols, and PME integration best practices

Required Skills
-
Demonstrated ability to integrate advanced metering systems into Schneider Electric Power Monitoring Expert (PME), including device setup, hierarchy configuration, data logging, dashboards, alarms, and reporting

Strong understanding of utility metering applications, including electric, gas, water, steam, chilled water, hot water, and renewable energy metering

Knowledge of meter communications protocols and interfaces, including Modbus RTU/TCP, BACnet/IP, BACnet MS/TP, Ethernet, pulse outputs, and serial communications
-
Ability to troubleshoot meter communications, data quality, scaling, units, timestamps, and device connectivity issues from the field device to the enterprise platform
-
Working knowledge of network concepts used in metering environments, including IP addressing, ports, gateways, VLAN coordination, and basic cybersecurity practices
-
Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, one-line diagrams, control drawings, meter schedules, network drawings, and project specifications

Strong analytical skills with the ability to validate energy data, identify anomalies, and support measurement and verification activities

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to document technical findings and explain issues to technical and non-technical stakeholders

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software for documentation, reporting, and project coordination
-
Excellent customer service skills and ability to work collaboratively with engineers, technicians, IT personnel, facility managers, and subcontractors
Required Experience/Education
-
At least 3 years of experience deploying, integrating, commissioning, or supporting utility metering, energy monitoring, power monitoring, or building analytics systems

Required hands-on experience integrating metering devices and data sources into Schneider Electric Power Monitoring Expert (PME)
-
Experience configuring PME system components such as devices, hierarchies, Vista diagrams, dashboards, reports, alarms, trends, and data logs
-
Experience commissioning metering systems and validating meter-to-platform data integrity
-
Experience with multi-vendor meters, communications gateways, data acquisition devices, and building automation or energy management platforms
-
Technical knowledge of low-voltage electrical systems, metering hardware installation practices, and safe work coordination with qualified electrical personnel
-
Schneider Electric PME training, certification, or equivalent demonstrated project experience preferred

Niagara N4, building automation, power monitoring, or energy management certification preferred
Physical Requirements

Physically able to climb overhead or crawl under spaces to complete jobs.

Must be willing to work at heights.

Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds at times.
