Job Description

AvantGarde, LLC (AG) seeks to engage a SharePoint Developer supports the AG client OIS/EAM in a hybrid environment at the U.S. Capitol Police (USCP) by creating customized SharePoint solutions including configuring systems, building web applications and writing and modifying code.

AG offers a comprehensive benefit package including a monthly commuter benefit as well as immediate medical enrollment.  This is a full time, 40 hours per week position.  The work schedule is onsite in in Washington, D.C. 1 day per week with remote work four days per week.  This is a 7-month project expected to conclude by April 30, 2025.

The WORK

  • Member of the EAMD support team to create customized SharePoint solutions for USCP in alignment with migration project goals and milestones.
  • Responsible for configuring and customizing SharePoint systems according to USCP specifications, building scalable web applications, writing and modifying code, debugging software, and training staff.
  • Creates clean, scalable SharePoint websites that meet all USCP design and functionality requirements.
  • Uses front-end programming languages (JavaScript, HTML5, CSS, XML, jQuery, SQL Server, and Web Services) to develop SharePoint sites and applications.
  • Solves complex software issues in support of SharePoint development projects.
  • Creates and maintains security and permissions, controlling access to SharePoint sites and subfolders.
  • Presents regular briefs to USCP points on contact on development project progress.
  • Creates custom Sites with Unique Permissions, custom List and Libraries, and included workflows and user groups.
  • Coordinates with other USCP OIS and EAMD staff to finalize SharePoint development projects
Skills & Requirements

The REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related area including 7 years’ relevant experience. 
  • Requires extensive knowledge of and experience with SharePoint and MS Office software.  Experience with SharePoint Online is highly desired.
  • Requires proficiency with front-end programming languages including JavaScript, HTML5, CSS, XML, jQuery, SQL Server, and Web Services
  • Requires at least 4 years’ experience solving complex software issues and developing scalable SharePoint websites/applications.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other team members to ensure projects meets client needs and integrates design and functionality requirements.
  • Understanding of Agile methodology and the creation of user stories.
  • Able to obtain a federal security clearance; active or recent federal security clearance preferred.

The United States Capitol Police (USCP) is a federal law enforcement agency in the United States with nationwide jurisdiction charged with protecting the United States Congress within the District of Columbia and throughout the United States and its territories.  It is the only full-service federal law enforcement agency appointed by the legislative branch of the federal government of the United States.

The United States Capitol Police has been an AG client since FY14, supporting the offices of HR, Security, OIS and the Chief Administrative Officer. USCP is a fast-paced agency with a unique mission and challenges.  Since USCP is in the Legislative Branch of the Federal Government, it has an operating style different than most Executive Branch agencies.  The OIS office is a lean organization with high priorities.  Suitable candidates must be able to work at an optimal level in support of achieving the goals of the organization..
