The Clinical Resource Nurse and Educator provides clinical operations support, oversees all aspects of the clinical education and medication authorization programs, and provides his or her designated office(s) with clinical supervision and float coverage.

The position is located in our River North Clinic, Chicago.  

Essential Job Functions include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Must be proficient in reproductive endocrinology and infertility (REI) nursing.
  • Current Illinois RN license in good standing.
  •  Thorough and accurate training of newly-hired nurses and medical assistants.
  • Knowledge of, and compliance with, FCI standards, policies and procedures.
  • Effective leadership skills.
  • Actively role model and coach the behaviors associated with integrity, compassion, accountability, respect, and excellence.
  • Maintain mature, professional, and effective working relationships with FCI physicians, all levels of FCI management and staff, and outside customers.
  • Demonstrate leadership skills in problem-solving, decision-making, multi-tasking, and accountability.
  • Demonstrate exceptional communication skills, a respectful demeanor, and a positive approach.
  • Maintain personal knowledge of FCI policies, procedures, goals and initiatives.
  • Assume other responsibilities, aside from those outlined in this job description, as deemed necessary and appropriate by Physicians, Executive Director, and/or Director of Medical Affairs.

Operations Support:

  •  Assist the Clinical Resource Team with the Fertility Awareness program. Track the program statistics/success, reporting quarterly to the Executive Director and Managing Partners.
  • CE Direct management: maintain contract and ensure completion of assigned CE’s by applicable staff.
  • CPR management: track certification among applicable staff, with monthly communication regarding updates due.
  • Collaborate with marketing on patient education materials.
  • Manage clinical documents, templates and other materials.  Collaborate with IVF Manager on anything related to IVF.
  • Assist all FCI departments with clinically-related questions.
  • Serve as the primary contact for Attain (for outcomes) and Live STRONG (for approvals). Forward communications to applicable nursing staff.

Clinical Education Program

  • Collaborate with clinical resource team all aspects of the clinical education program, continuously evaluating effectiveness and modifying program as needed.
  • Ensuring that training and float coverage needs are met.
  • Attend Clinical Resource Nurse team call, to collectively discuss needs, progress, and initiatives.
  • Ensure thorough orientation of new nurses and medical assistants.
  • Assist new clinical staff in developing their skills and knowledge, with learning aimed at assuring quality patient care and customer service.
  • Identify learning needs and adjust teaching style and methods as needed.
  • Provide the new employee with frequent feedback on his or her progress, based on assessment of achievement of clinical competencies.
  • Effectively elicit critical questions from new employees as they develop sound clinical judgment.
  • Access appropriate resources to obtain additional information or assistance as needed.
  • Support new employee as he or she integrates information essential to prioritizing, providing care, and delegating tasks, to maximize patient outcomes.
  • Determine, with input from the applicable Physician(s), when the new employee is ready to begin patient care without the preceptor present.
  • Ensure that all new clinical staff receive timely 90-day evaluations to accurately assess skill set and fit for role.

Staffing coverage:  

  •  In the event that there is a staffing shortage at one of his or her designated offices, or other need for assistance, fill in to provide patient care.
  • The needs of the office/staff are to be prioritized.  Creative problem-solving and multi-taking are critical.
  • Clinical Resource Nurses throughout the practice will cover each other’s offices as needed.
  • Work closely with the administrative office manager(s) and the Director of Medical Affairs to promote and maintain quality patient care, through effective oversight of patient care services at his or her assigned offices.

Nursing supervisor for designated offices:

  • Work closely with the administrative office manager(s) and the Director of Medical Affairs to promote and maintain quality patient care, through effective oversight of patient care services at his or her assigned offices.
  • Assist with recruiting, interviewing and selecting qualified employees.

Education and/or Experience:

  • BSN or higher strongly preferred
  • Five years’ nursing experience preferred
  • Prior training and supervisory experience preferred
  • Current Illinois RN license in good standing
