Job Posting: Inclusion Teacher (Special Needs)

Introduction:

JAIS:

Established under the auspices of the American Embassy in 2001, the Jerusalem American International school is a branch of The Walworth Barbour American International School in Israel (WBAIS). It is a MSA accredited, fully independent, co-educational Pre-K - 9 international school offering an American program in an international setting.

JAIS is situated in a residential area of Jerusalem in the Goldstien youth village. We have renovated classrooms and a new yard as well as having access to communal facilities such as the swimming pool and gym.

JAIS is a small and warm school where every student is included, valued and set up to thrive.

Recruitment begins as soon as a suitable candidate is found.

Reports to: Head of School

Job Capacity: 100%

Start Date: Estimated start would be August 12, 2022

The Successful Candidate will be:

  • Fluent English

  • Have a Degree

  • Have a Valid Special Needs Teacher Qualification

  • Experience in developing, teaching and reviewing IEPs

  • Experience in assessing student individual needs, implementing and monitoring programs.

  • Experience in partnering with all the faculty, cascading good practice and need to know information to address student needs.

● Demonstrated successful experience in teaching different types of learners.

 

● Ability to teach and differentiate to learners across K to grade 8, sometimes in mixed-age,

ability or interest groupings.

  • Experience with English language Learners and a knowledge of the interplay of Learning needs and language acquisition

● Model technology integration as appropriate to enhance instruction.

● Promote a positive relationship with others, sharing ideas, materials, experiences and expertise.

● Participate in peer coaching and other instructional improvement programs.

● Demonstrate a commitment to professional development both during the school year and

during off school months as needed.

● Support school-wide projects such as staff development, and community efforts and events.



Candidates will be at an advantage for this position if they can:

  • Offer flexibility in contributing over different, subjects and age groups.

  • Are prepared to do any required training to increase their ability to teach in new areas

  • Are qualified, experienced and able to take on coordination of the Inclusion Department.
