Job Posting: Mother Tongue Program (French and German) Foreign Language Tutor (beginning January 2023)

WBAIS and Israel:

Established under the auspices of the American Embassy in 1958, The Walworth Barbour American International School in Israel (WBAIS) is a MSA accredited, fully independent, co-educational Pre-K - 12 international school, which offers a robust program leading to a US high school diploma.

With a present enrollment of approximately 600 students representing over 40 nationalities, AIS Israel is a diverse and vibrant community. Approximately 40% of AIS students are American, 40% from countries all over the world, and 20% Israelis.

In 2008 WBAIS moved to its current 19-acre campus that opened in 2007 and is located in the town of Even Yehuda, a residential community approximately 20 kilometers north of Tel Aviv. The purpose-built campus includes four separate divisions, a performing arts building with a 400-seat auditorium, full gym, cafeteria, library and media center, athletic fields, tennis and basketball courts, and an olympic-sized pool.

POSITION OBJECTIVES:

The Walworth Barbour American International School is seeking language tutors to teach students in the Mother Tongue After School Program.

The Mother Tongue Program's vision is to grow effective multilingual communicators with a global outlook. The aim of the program is to nurture multilingual students to be proud of their mother tongue and culture, and help them develop linguistically, socially and academically. The program focuses on increasing language fluency and promoting the positive aspects of multilingualism. Tutors are currently sought for the following languages: French and German.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintain a successful classroom learning environment.

• Create a sense of community and culture as part of the language tuition.

• Mentor and evaluate students.

• Tutors will be available to teach on at least one weekday afternoon (Monday - Thursday) from 15:00 - 16:10 on the school campus in Even Yehuda.

Qualifications:

• Tutors will know the language they are teaching at an expert level and hold a teaching certificate or in lieu have at least five years of experience in language education.
