Job Description

Nammo Defense Systems, Inc., a defense contractor, is the primary USA operation of the Nammo Group (Nammo AS). Nammo Defense Systems Inc. (NDS) develops, manufactures, and supports Shoulder Launched Munitions (SLMs), energetic material solutions such as aircraft emergency escape systems, actuation devices, rocket motors, warheads, and composite solutions including carbon fiber tubes and composite aerospace structures.

We are currently seeking a Manufacturing Manager to join our team.

The Manufacturing Manager will oversee several manufacturing areas with an operational focus on safety, cost, quality, & delivery as well as a cultural focus on coaching leaders, driving team behaviors, and improving employee engagement.  This position will report directly to the Director of Operations.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Ensure safety practices in manufacturing areas meet or exceed company objectives.
• Daily interaction with Manufacturing teams to assist with escalated issues and to ensure adherence to production schedules.
• Establish and review Manufacturing metrics with focus on identification and prioritization of improvement opportunities.  
• Develop manufacturing labor estimates for proposals.
• Create and oversee budgets for each Manufacturing area.
• Assist with problem solving and eliminating production barriers as required.
• Champion employee development and performance management by coaching Manufacturing Leaders and identifying potential successors.  
• Capacity planning based on forecast to ensure timely hiring of resources needed.
• Drive continuous improvement through goal setting, prioritizing opportunities, coaching, and direct involvement in CI projects/events.  
• Identify operational risks such as single point failures, inadequate tooling/equipment, capacity limitations, etc. then develop and implement mitigation plans.  
• Ensure manufacturing facilities are maintained and operated in accordance with DoD, OSHA, AS9100, and other regulatory requirements.
• Participate in and develop employees
• Manage and participate in the daily management structure of operations
• Actively manage employee performance
• Develop and maintain business metrics to monitor, improve, and control operations
• Work within an integrated product team to support manufacturing operations
 
Job Qualifications: (Education/Skills/Experience):

• Four-year degree in business or engineering preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years proven success in role with similar scope of duties and responsibilities.
• Minimum of 10 years’ experience working directly in a manufacturing environment.  
• Understanding of Program Management techniques.  
• Experience with chemical or explosive manufacturing preferred.
• Experience working to DoD requirements
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to effectively engage people at all levels of the organization.  
• High level of professionalism and business acumen.  
• Training and experience in Continuous Improvement tools and methodologies (root cause, Lean, Six Sigma, etc.).  
• Proven record of effectively dealing with conflict.  
• Proficient with MS Suite, to include Excel, Word, PPT and Project.
• Must be able to provide proof of US Persons and ability to clear ATF background check.
