About Us:                                                                                                                                                                                                                              Nammo Defense Systems-SLC is an engineering and composite manufacturing company with more than 20 years of operation.  Our facility is in downtown Salt Lake City, Utah.

Job Summary:                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  Receive and distribute materials internally and externally; load and unload, pick-up, transport, and deliver materials; expedite deliveries and shipments; complete forms, validate shipping/receiving and inventory documents; inspect materials, identify, and report discrepancies; label and package materials; process returns.  Ensure quality of parts and documents are in conformance throughout each process of the Material Control Department.

Primary Responsibilities:                                                                                                                                                                                                            80-90% Material Control and Operations:

Verify all part counts and ensure that deliverable product is packaged per work instructions or best commercial practices in the absence of work instructions.

Ensure that all articles shipped are properly documented.  Process shipments and receives electronically in “the system” as required.

Ensure all receives are checked in accurately, checking condition of shipment, quantity discrepancies, part and document conformance.

Prepare packing lists and bills of lading for all shipments on trucking company web sites.  Prepare any other documents that may be required for export of materials (Commercial Invoice).

Contact and schedule common carriers for pick-ups of outbound materials.

Assist in stocking and distribution of incoming materials.

Assist Material Control Lead in all aspects of efficient department operations; shipping, receiving, cycle counting, inventory control.

Read production schedules, inventory reports, and work orders to determine type and quantity of materials required, availability of stock, and order priority.

Confer with area lead and department supervisors to determine overdue material and parts and to inform supervisors or planners of material status.

Expedites and coordinates smooth and timely movement of material.

Arrange for distribution and/or storage of materials upon QC acceptance.

Maintain storage areas of raw materials.

Issue materials to the production floor and processes inventory transactions in ERP System.

Locate and distribute materials to specified production areas as needed.

Perform cycle counts and investigate discrepancies.

Kitting, Staging of Material, and Inventory Control.

Basic computer skills.

Other duties as assigned.

 

5-10% Planning:                                                                                                                                                                                                                              Attend and participate in department meetings.

Plan, schedule, and prepare for the working day or week.

5-10% Continuous Improvement:                                                                                                                                                                                                    Work on daily 5S assignments to ensure work area is organized, clean and efficient.

Participate in department and or company continuous improvement projects.

 

Job Qualifications (Education/Skills/Experience):                                                                                                                                                                        1-5 years of related experience

High School Diploma or general education diploma (GED)

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.

Experience in writing routine reports and correspondence.

Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. 

Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.

Ability to be at work on time on a regular consistent basis.
