About the Role:
Contech is seeking a Stormwater R&D Lab Manager to lead operations at our in-house testing facility. This critical role supports the development, validation, and regulatory approval of advanced stormwater treatment systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in water quality and hydraulic testing, hands-on lab management experience, and a collaborative mindset.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and execute laboratory and field-simulated tests for stormwater treatment systems (filters, hydrodynamic separators, biofiltration units).
- Oversee daily lab operations, including scheduling, safety compliance, equipment calibration, and staff supervision.
- Ensure all testing follows industry and regulatory standards (e.g., TAPE, NJCAT, ASTM).
- Implement and maintain lab SOPs and QA/QC procedures.
- Manage data collection, analysis, and reporting for internal stakeholders and regulatory bodies.
- Collaborate with engineering, R&D, and product management teams on new product development and improvements to existing systems.
- Support third-party verification and certification processes, liaising with regulatory agencies and external labs.
- Maintain detailed, traceable lab documentation and records.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Mechanical, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in stormwater management, product verification, or lab testing.
- 2+ years of supervisory experience; ability to lead a team of 3–5.
- Proficiency in stormwater treatment systems, water quality sampling, flow monitoring, and lab instrumentation.
- Familiarity with regulatory frameworks such as TAPE, NJCAT, and ASTM standards.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and technical writing skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Occasional travel is required for field tests and external coordination.
Preferred:
- Master’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
- PE (Professional Engineer) license.
- 5+ years of stormwater or lab testing experience.
- Experience using woodworking tools for prototype fabrication.
- In-depth knowledge of EPA/stormwater regulations and construction industry practices.
