Job Description

Traffic Safety Services (TSS) is seeking a dependable and safety-focus Traffic Control, Perm Install, and Pavement Marking Technician to support our team. 

Hourly wage: $20.00/hr.; prevailing wage for on-site work: $30.80 - $34.30/hr. otherwise.  This is a seasonal position.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Drive the company vehicle to and from job sites in a safe manner.
  • Deliver, set up, tear down, pick up, and maintain traffic control devices.
  • Assist any/all departments to ensure the timely completion of jobs and projects.
  • Maintain a clean shop and yard.
  • Wash, clean, inspect, maintain, fuel, and stock trucks, equipment, and vehicles assigned to jobs.
  • Organize and maintain inventory.
  • Independently load, securely tie down, transport, and unload trucks, trailers, and equipment.
  • Safely lift, carry, and stack traffic control devices and other job-related materials as needed.
  • Assist with the layout and application of pavement markings.
  • Operate and change heads on small grinders.
  • Operate a forklift and skid-steer.
  • Perform minor repairs on equipment as needed.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
  • Follow safety regulations and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • All other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds with appropriate assistance/equipment.
  • Requires one to walk, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Regularly exposed to outside weather conditions, moving equipment and machinery parts, moving traffic, fumes, and airborne particles.

QUALIFICATIONS/PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Must be 18 years old.
  • Valid driver’s license, CDL is a plus, with a clean driving record.
  • Previous experience operating a forklift, skid-steer, is a plus.
  • Must have a reliable communication method to in order to receive work schedule.
  • Proficiency in reading maps and traffic control and pavement marking plans/ specifications.
  • Able to operate motor vehicles, hook up trailers, and back up trailers.
  • Must have basic math skills, including the ability to read a tape measure.
  • Must conduct yourself in a manner promoting a professional atmosphere by being a team player, self-motivated, organized, and having a positive attitude.
  • Must have good oral and/or written English communication skills.
  • Work week varies - overtime is required when needed.
