POSITION SUMMARY:

The Senior Financial Accountant is responsible for performing and overseeing complex accounting, financial analysis, and reporting activities to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial information.  The Senior Financial Accountant is expected to independently research and resolve complex accounting issues, identify trends and financial risks, strengthen internal controls, and lead process improvement initiatives. This position serves as an accounting resource to management, other departments, and members of the Accounting and Finance team and may provide guidance and review of work performed by less experienced accountants.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare, analyze, and review daily, weekly, monthly, and annual financial reports.
  • Prepare and review complex journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals and supporting schedules.
  • Perform detailed financial and variance analysis and communicate findings to Accounting management. 
  • Review financial results and identify trends, unusual transactions, and opportunities requiring management attention.
  • Evaluate internal controls and identify opportunities to strengthen controls, reduce risk, and improve the accuracy and efficiency of accounting processes. 
  • Lead in developing, documenting, and implementing accounting policies and procedures.
  • Lead in accounting and finance projects, system implementations, and other continuous improvement initiatives. 
  • Lead in special projects and other duties as assigned.

Skills & Requirements

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
  • Relevant accounting experience demonstrating progressively increasing responsibility.
  • Experience with financial reporting, account reconciliation and financial analysis is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial statements and general ledger accounting.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to independently identify, research, and resolve complex accounting issues.
  • Excellent attention to detail with a strong commitment to accuracy and financial integrity.
  • Ability to independently manage multiple priorities and consistently meet reporting and closing deadlines.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and demonstrated ability to analyze large amounts of financial data.
  • Ability to provide guidance and technical support to other accounting team members.
  • Ability to take ownership of assignments and processes with limited supervision.
  • Strong organizational skills and commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgment.
  • Relocation to Eau Claire, WI is required
